Greyhound Adoptions of Florida

Darren is a lucky greyhound who was fortunate enough to be given a second chance at life. He was born with a deformity in both his front legs. When he came to Grey Haven he was underweight. You can read Darren's amazing story and how he worked so hard to get healthy during his stay here at Grey Haven.

Darren is now with his a very special family that is near and dear to our hearts, The Beckers, who live in Memphis, TN. You may remember Bill and Irene; they adopted Dancing Bug a little over a year ago. Here is a report from them on how Darren and Bug are doing:

"Darren is definitely a happy boy and plays with all the toys in the house. He's also got a lot of energy (especially at midnight when he wakes up and wants to play or eat something.) Bug was like that when she was settling in, but she grew out of it. We hope Darren does as well.

He thinks every time a person is in the kitchen, they're in there making him something to eat. He scopes out the dishwasher as his personal after-dinner dessert, and we have to keep all the food way back on the counter tops ... he stole part of Bill's bagel the second day he was here. He does really well on the carpet, which is most of the house, but we have tile in the kitchen and by the doors, and our house isn't very big, so he has to remember he can slip.


The other day, though, I caught Bug roaching in the living room, sound asleep, tail flicking and obviously having a dream. Wish I had my movie camera because it was pretty funny. She is definitely a character and is good at meet and greets until she gets tired and needs to lie down. Then forget it - you're going to her, not the other way around. Here she is resting on her bed."
